Carlyle to increase investments in India

Having waited for a year to build its business in India, global private equity giant Carlyle, with assets worth $30 billion worldwide, is now stepping up the heat. Its first move this year is a $20 million investment in a Gujarat based life sciences company called Claris. But from here on, Carlyle may change its approach and focus on companies with a proven track record and not in smaller start-ups.
