A Pan-Indian Muslim women's forum, the Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan, has petitioned the Prime Minister, urging reforms in the Muslim Personal Law. Their demands include making polygamy, unilateral oral triple talaq illegal and a compulsory 90-day arbitration period for divorces. The letter urges that Muslim women's opinion on equality and justice be heard. The organisation has put forward a draft of a codified, Quran-compliant 'Muslim Family Law'. Will a petition to the Prime Minister help?
