Union minister Venkaiah Naidu has drawn criticism from opposition parties and ally Shiv Sena for saying that "seeking loan waivers has become a fashion these days." Mr Naidu was speaking in Maharashtra, where the state government led by his party BJP has been petitioned by farmers to write-off their loans the way four other states have. "If one needs money we will offer loans, banks will help. But seeking loan waiver has become a fashion these days," said Mr Naidu.
