A civil society fact finding team held a press conference in Kolkata over the Ram Navami violence in Bengal. In its report,  the team has blamed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's comments for the violence during Ram Navami in West Bengal. The TMC said the team was political in nature and had come at the behest of the BJP and had no locus standi in the matter. The team has said it is not associated with any constitutional body like NHRC or any political party. The administration had not allowed the team to visit the riot-affected areas in Shibpur in Howrah and Rishra in Hooghly citing the imposition of prohibitory orders in these areas.
