New Delhi: On the last day of campaigning for the December 4 Assembly elections, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today hard sold her development mantra while trying to woo voters in the resettlement colonies of Malviya Nagar.

"We have never made any false promises, we had said that Delhi will be the most prosperous and beautiful city of the country and we have made it so.

"Today Delhi is not just the best city in the world but people around the world say that if the same pace is maintained then the capital will soon be among the best developed cities in the world," she said.

Addressing an election rally in Delhi at Gandhi Park in Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar, the Delhi Chief Minister in a bid to consolidate its resettlement vote base, said, "A family which lives in resettlement colony builds its house after saving for years. Which government has the right to raze that residence, we won't let that happen."

The Chief Minister, who has been single-handedly driving the party's campaign in the last phase, also played a subtle migrant card.

"I am telling this in front of you because the people of Delhi know that Congress fulfills its promises. I would like to ask you, those who came to Delhi, you have stayed here. Did you go back? Does anyone leave Delhi? More people are coming, why they are coming, because they get employment, 24x7 electricity," she said.

In a bid to puncture opposition's claim of water scarcity in the national capital, Mrs Dikshit said, "Today water has reached to 82 per cent households through pipelines and we want to take it to 100 per cent."

Exhorting voters of Malviya Nagar to vote for local MLA Kiran Walia, Mrs Dikshit said, "We have to take Delhi further. We have to take you forward and the country. So vote for Congress."

She was accompanied by Ms Walia and singer Daler Mehndi.
