- An Iranian commander warned that the country will be a burial ground for invaders amid the US military buildup
- General Jahanshahi said Iranian troops are combat-ready and will defeat invaders decisively
- The Iran war, which had entered its 35th day, began on February 28
Iranian commanders have warned that the country will become a burial ground for invaders as the United States continues one of its largest military buildups in the Middle East. General Ali Jahanshahi, Iran's Army Ground Forces Commander, issued the warning on Friday, stating, "Iran is where invaders are buried."
"We won't send your troops back to the Stone Age; we'll send them further back than that. Iran's Army commandos have spent years in brutal training and remain fully combat-ready," Jahanshahi added.
The statement, posted on X by PressTV, was accompanied by a two-minute video that opened with the words "Come close," followed by footage of Iranian special forces carrying out combat drills and troops moving through rough terrain, set to dramatic music. The video ended with the message: "We are waiting for you." A clip also showed a large Iranian army missile launcher firing its weapon, followed by explosions.
A day before Jahanshahi's warning, the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian army, Major General Amir Hatami, had issued an even sharper message. Speaking during a video conference with army commanders and headquarters, Hatami ordered that if the US attempted a ground operation, "not a single person should survive."
He directed his commanders to monitor the situation with maximum vigilance. "It is necessary to monitor the movements and actions of the enemies with utmost pessimism and accuracy, moment by moment, and implement plans to counter the enemy's methods of attack at the appropriate time," he said.
Hatami also said the "shadow of war" had to be lifted from Iran, stressing that the country would not allow a situation "where some places are safe and while our people are not secure."
On the American side, President Donald Trump has maintained an aggressive stance.
He recently claimed that US military operations have significantly weakened Iran's capabilities and said the campaign would "finish the job" soon.
Addressing the nation, Trump said US forces would continue to hit Iran "extremely hard" for the next two to three weeks and once again threatened Iranian power plants. He also urged other nations, including US allies, to show "courage" and take responsibility for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
Trump also urged other nations and US allies to show "courage" and take responsibility for the Strait of Hormuz, the critical waterway currently under Iranian control.
The conflict, now in its 35th day, began on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran, targeting military sites and killing senior leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Since then, the war has spread across the region, with Iran responding through missile and drone attacks and targeting US bases across the Middle East.
