A tragic incident has come to light involving the death of a young man from Punjab in the US. Gurdeep Singh, 28, was shot dead by an unidentified shooter while he was out delivering pizza in New York City. People in his village in Begowal back home in Punjab's Kapurthala are devastated.
According to reports, Gurdeep Singh went to the US 13 years ago after taking a loan, hoping to earn a livelihood and secure a better future for his parents back in India.
Gurdeep Singh's father Pyara Lal said his son took on a heavy debt burden to go to the US, but after reaching there he faced numerous hardships for a long time. He worked day and night to give a better life to his family, Lal said.
The attack was suspected to be the result of a robbery bid. More details will come only from the local police in New York City after they investigate the case.
A wave of grief swept through Jabowal village as soon as the news of his death arrived. Family members were inconsolable and in deep shock over the tragedy.
Gurdeep Singh is survived by his father and a brother. They have requested the government to help in bringing his body to India as soon as possible. They have also asked the US authorities to take all possible measures to ensure the swift arrest of the accused and strictest possible punishment.
