Billionaire philanthropist Melinda French Gates said that her ex-husband Bill Gates being named in newly released files linked to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein reopened what she described as “painful times” in her marriage. Speaking on an NPR podcast, she said the disclosures left her with “unbelievable sadness” and added that any unresolved questions should be addressed by those mentioned in the records, including her former husband. Melinda Gates said she was “happy to be away from all the muck,” noting that the couple divorced in 2021. The newly released US Justice Department records also include a claim by Epstein alleging Bill Gates contracted a sexually transmitted disease—an allegation Gates’ spokesperson has strongly denied, calling it “absolutely absurd.”
