Once a small fishing village, Visakhapatnam is becoming an inspiration for many Indian city. A city that has a population of 2.1 million is a financial capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The work to end Open Defecation by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is not just the major sanitation undertaking but also becoming a massive gender programme due to the efforts of over 17 lakh women who have come together and formed self-help groups.
