US Urges Bangladesh Interim Govt To Respect Democratic Principles

Bangladesh is undergoing a massive political crisis, after Sheikh Hasina resigned as PM on August 05. Hasina resigned after massive protests by students for weeks turned into a threat to her life. Known as "Iron Lady", Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled her nation after short notice by the Army. Hasina arrived in India on August 05 and it is not clear if she will stay in Delhi or move to another location. Meanwhile, protests and destruction continue across Bangladesh even after Hasina's resignation, departure. Army Chief General Waker-Us-Zaman addressed a Press Conference and informed about the takeover of the country. The prevailing situation in Bangladesh has raised concern among the world powers including the United States. United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged the interim govt to respect democratic principles & uphold rule of law
