Unnao Rape Case | "We Don't Feel Safe": Protests Outside Delhi High Court Over Sengar Bail Order

Massive protests have erupted outside the Delhi High Court following its order suspending the life sentence of Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the 2017 Unnao rape case, granting him bail pending appeal. Demonstrators, including women’s rights activists and supporters of the survivor, raised slogans demanding justice and questioned the safety of women after the court’s decision. Protesters said the order has deepened the survivor’s trauma and sent a dangerous message, even as Sengar remains in jail in a separate case related to the death of the survivor’s father. The Central Bureau of Investigation is expected to challenge the bail order in the Supreme Court, while police presence has been intensified around the protest site to manage the escalating anger. The developments have reignited a nationwide debate on women’s safety, judicial accountability, and the impact of court orders on survivors of sexual violence.
