UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan met on Friday with the heads of the US, Russian and Ukrainian delegations participating in the first trilateral talks hosted by the UAE in its capital, Abu Dhabi. According to the Emirati news agency WAM, the UAE president expressed hope that the discussions would be positive and successful, reiterating that the UAE supports all initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement of the Ukraine crisis in a manner that serves the interests of all parties and contributes to global peace and stability. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the future of Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region is a key focus as negotiators from Ukraine, Russia and the United States meet in Abu Dhabi. The talks come as part of ongoing efforts to end Russia’s nearly four-year full-scale invasion of Ukraine and mark the first known time that officials from the Trump administration have simultaneously met with Ukrainian and Russian negotiators.
