Trump Putin Meet | US President Donald Trump Rules Out NATO Guarantees For Ukraine

US President Donald Trump ruled out NATO guarantees for Ukraine - and said he'd be talking about land swaps with Vladimir Putin - as he spoke with the press gaggle on Air Force One en route to Anchorage, Alaska and his meeting with the Russian leader on Friday. "What about possibility of the United States providing security guarantees to Ukraine?" he was asked. "Maybe along with Europe; not in the form of NATO, because that's not going to…. there are certain things that aren't going to happen. But, yeah, along with Europe, there's a possibility of that," he replied. "Are the territorial swaps on the table? Will you be discussing that?" he was also asked. "They'll be discussed, but I've got to let Ukraine make that decision. And I think they'll make a proper decision. But I'm not here to negotiate for Ukraine, I'm here to get him (Volodymyr Zelensky) at a table," he said. Trump has repeatedly ruled out NATO membership for Ukraine, while Secretary General Mark Rutte has also said it would never have been part of any peace deal. While Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky has continually called for admission, Moscow has also said a 'neutral' Ukraine must be guaranteed.
