India evacuated its embassy in Kabul amid escalating humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, as a special Air Force flight brought back the envoy, along with other staff members and ITBP troops. The evacuation operation has faced multiple challenges in the last 48 hours as Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan after 20 years on Sunday; Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to assess the situation in war-torn Afghanistan. The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval; and other top stories.
