Former India hockey coach Harendra Singh is concerned over the slow death of hockey in India as a sport. He feels that somewhere between school, college and the national team, something is getting missed and that is why people are losing interest. He is of the opinion that things have changed since the eighties and priority is not given to sports as it should be. Dr. Meera Sood, Deputy Secretary of Delhi University feels that it is the University's decision to decide how much reservation they will give to students under sports quota and concludes that hockey is suffering as a result of this.
