"The Government Had to Take Responsibility": Sachin Pilot on Student Protests

In an exclusive conversation with NDTV, Congress leader Sachin Pilot says the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reflects the government's acceptance of public sentiment after weeks of student protests. He describes the development as a victory for young people who demanded accountability over alleged failures in the education system.

Pilot says the focus must now shift from resignations to structural reforms in the examination system. While welcoming efforts to strengthen laws against paper leaks and unfair means, he argues that certainty of punishment is more important than harsher penalties. He also calls for accountability over the police action during the protests and says Parliament should examine the proposed anti-cheating legislation in detail.
