In over a decade long battle for their right to livelihood, bar dancers in Mumbai have seen much more than just unemployment and extreme poverty. They complain about constant harassment at the hands of the administration. The Supreme Court's order directing the state government to issue fresh licenses to dance bars has come as major relief for over fifty thousand bar dancers in the state. With the chief minister now busy framing a new law for dance bars, on the eve of international women's day, we ask these women what they expect from the new law and how they survived a decade long ban.
