Supreme Court Orders Fair Rehearing In Assam Citizenship Cases
The Supreme Court has ruled that the process of determining an individual's citizenship or declaring someone a foreigner must be fair and in accordance with due process. The apex court set aside orders of the Guwahati High Court and Assam Foreigners Tribunals that had declared certain individuals as foreigners, directing fresh hearings before the tribunals.
