The Safai Karamchari Andolon was started by Indian activist Bezwada Wilson in 1993 to eradicate manual scavenging and break the link imposed by the caste system between birth and dehumanizing occupations. Over 10 years now, the fight is still on as manual scavenging still exists despite a ban. NDTV's Vikram Chandra talks to the Indian activist, our campaign ambassador Amitabh Bachchan and the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot to highlight the problem and discuss the way ahead to tackle the problem.
