"I've been reciting the Bhagavad Gita since I was 8 years old and I'm a proud Muslim," said Dr. Najma Heptullah, the Union Minority Affairs Minister when questioned as to why only the Muslim minorities are constantly asked to prove their loyalty to India. On the recent Dadri Lynching - where a 50-year-old man was killed over rumours that he had eaten beef - she said although it's an issue that comes under the purview of the state government, she's sad that such an incident did occur. She stressed upon the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one the few Prime Ministers who have reached out to the maximum number of minorities. On why the BJP doesn't have many prominent Muslim ministers, she replied that only if the Muslims join the BJP will there be Muslim ministers and that trend is picking since the Lok Sabha elections last year.
