"Although in the medical profession Indian doctors have achieved super specialization we have not focussed on making good general physicians", is Dr. Randeep Guleria's assessment to question of why Indians rush to hospitals like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences hence leading to excessive pressure on India's hospitals. Dr. Guleria is a pulmonologist and the current Director of AIIMS and he says that despite technology taking strides in the form of laser diagnostics to robotic surgeries, it is underutilised when it comes to patient care and ground level applications.
