Babus As Rath Prabharis: Public Work Or Propaganda?

The BJP and Congress have had a sharp exchange over the union government's plans to enlist bureaucrats as "Rath Prabharis" or those who will be part of a campaign to highlight the work of the government over the last 9 years across the country. The controversy erupted after a circular from the Central Board of Direct taxes cited a letter from the agriculture ministry sharing plans for a nationwide "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra" and seeking nomination of bureaucrats as special officers or "district Rath prabharis" in each of the country's 765 districts.
