As the Supreme Court on Monday struck down the euthanasia plea for Aruna Shanbaug, it also in its ruling opened up a whole new debate over mercy killing in India. Will the nation now be willing to look into allowing medical treatment to be withheld to persons living in a persistent vegetative state to end their suffering?
