Shipping vessels were seen lining up near Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates after Iran disrupted traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The narrow waterway, which carries about one-fifth of the world's oil and natural gas exports, has seen tanker traffic grind to a halt amid escalating conflict. The United States says it has destroyed several Iranian mine-laying vessels to prevent the closure of the strait, as tensions threaten global energy supplies and send oil prices swinging.
