Saudi Shuts East-west Oil Pipeline Bypassing Hormuz After Multiple Attacks

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy said on Friday (September 11) that the East-West Pipeline was temporarily shut down after coming under multiple attacks a day earlier. In a statement posted on social media, the ministry said the pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions was attacked on Thursday morning (September 10). The shutdown was described as a precautionary measure. The ministry said a number of people were injured in the attacks and received medical treatment. The East-West Pipeline is a strategic piece of Saudi energy infrastructure, allowing crude oil exports to be transported to the Red Sea while bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The ministry said further developments would be announced in due course.
