RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has written to 35 political leaders of the INDIA bloc, seeking their support against the Election Commission of India's special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Mr Yadav alleged the EC's move is aimed at rigging polls in favour of the ruling NDA by deleting names of genuine voters, particularly from marginalised communities. The INDIA bloc will meet at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's house in Delhi to discuss the issue and plan a united response. Mr Yadav said the deletion of some 35 lakh voters' names from the electoral rolls could impact closely contested seats and alter the poll outcome. The opposition parties fear that this move will not only affect the elections but also deprive people of government welfare schemes if their names are struck off the voter list.
