The Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the police to release Udhayanidhi Stalin, who was arrested earlier today, after questioning him over his alleged "double-meaning" remark alluding to popular actor Trisha. The High Court also directed the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly to cooperate with the investigation as and when required. Party sources said an anticipatory bail petition was filed immediately after police arrived at Udhayanidhi's Neelankarai residence for questioning him in connection with his remarks made at a protest meeting on the Cauvery issue on Monday at Thanjavur. However, the DMK leader was subsequently arrested and taken to Thanjavur for questioning.
