CESC reported a 35 per cent increase in PAT in the third quarter. Vice-chairman Sanjiv Goenka explains that business in the power and retail verticals saw improvement in the December quarter. He adds that the impact of the tariff hike in West Bengal will add to the margins in the fourth quarter. The company plans to list the retail vertical separately, he says, and doesn’t rule out drawing in strategic investors into the business.
