A high-level team has been formed to investigate the killing of the pregnant elephant in Kerala, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan promising strict action against the people responsible. The elephant -- which had come out of the Silent Valley in search of food and wandered close to villages -- had eaten a fruit stuffed with firecrackers. Kerala's Chief Wildlife Warden told NDTV that they were of the view that it was an "intentional act to kill the elephant".
