The Premier League in England has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. On April 3, 20 Premier League clubs met and agreed to indefinitely extend the suspension of the season until it is safe for football to return. The Premier League also proposed a combination of pay cuts and deferrals amounting to 30 percent of a player's salary. However, the Professional Footballers' Association has said that the pay cuts may harm the National Health Service. The clubs are desperate for the season to be finished if possible to avoid the potential of having to reimburse broadcasters a reported 942 million US dollars if they fail to fulfil fixtures for television contracts.
