After the women's hockey team suffered a heartbreaking loss at the Tokyo Olympics, father of goalkeeper Savita Punia said that fans should recognise the efforts put in by the players rather than judging the team based on the outcome of the game. India lost 3-4 to Great Britain in the bronze medal match. Mahendra Punia, father of Savita Punia, spoke about the struggle and challenges faced by young hockey players and urged the government to provide basic sports facilities to youngsters in rural areas.
