The Congress had no choice and it was political compulsion that led to the birth of Telangana over four years ago, caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's son said at a time when both the Congress and the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi or TRS are trying to take credit for the formation of India's youngest state. "It was in 2004 when she (Sonia Gandhi) descended on Telangana and set foot in Telangana and promised the people of Telangana to make statehood happen. But it took her 10 long years and cost us hundreds of lives... It was a political compulsion that was conferred on Congress which left them with no choice but to deliver," KT Rama Rao told NDTV in an exclusive interview on his campaign trail.
