Lokayukta raids in Ujjain expose massive corruption

Madhya Pradesh's Chief Conservator of forests has been caught with assets worth around Rs 45 crore in raids by the state Lokayukta police on Wednesday morning. The police raided Chief Conservator Basant Kumar Singh's homes in Ujjain and Bhopal. Mr Singh draws a salary of about a lakh per month but his alleged undeclared assets include a petrol pump and a plush house in Varanasi, Rs 7 lakh in cash and a land in Uttar Pradesh. He has also allegedly acquired a residential plot in Bhopal, 150 acres of land in his village and a hotel in Banaras cantonment besides investments in various businesses.
