But this year, the streets of Kolkata resonated to the beats on Ram Navami - the ninth day of Basanti Puja in spring when Lord Ram was said to have been born. It was seen as a measure of a slow change in the political landscape. While the BJP and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh hit the roads to celebrate Ram Navami, the Trinamool Congress appeared determined not to be left behind.
