There is a fierce political battle unfolding in Tamil Nadu over the prestigious Central Chennai constituency. While former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran is trying to reclaim the DMK's stronghold, PMK's Sam Paul, an ally of the AIADMK, is fighting to keep the Central Chennai seat under the AIADMK alliance's hold. Kameela Nasser, who belongs to Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam, is also a strong contender for the seat. All parties have promised jobs in the Central Chennai seat, which is a largely middle class constituency.
