A day after Mayawati's government gave clearance to the Uttar Pradesh police to arrest BSP MLA Purushottam Naresh Dwivedi, accused of raping a minor girl, he has been arrested. The MLA, who was on the run, appeared at the Banda court on Thursday. Chief Minister Mayawati had earlier summoned officials of the Crime Branch and CID who are investigating the case.
