The Union Cabinet has recently approved the proposal of the ministry of human resource development to introduce a legislation to amend the Copyright Act of 1957. The proposed Bill, if passed, would entail producers giving 50 per cent music royalty to lyricists and composers as opposed to current one-time fee to the artists.
