Phone snooping: political espionage?

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today told Parliament that while there had been an effort to tap Arun Jaitley's call records, there was no effort to actually record his phone conversations. This explanation was not accepted by the BJP, which insists that the government is spying on the opposition. And now, leaders from the Left and the JDU say their phones have also been illegally tapped.
