In Kolkata, students have been out on the streets ever since the Citizenship Amendment Bill became a law. Jadavpur University, Presidency University, Aliah University and a host of other colleges have come out in protest. But not St. Xavier's College, which has a reputation for being apolitical and does not have a political students union. But today, students, professors and alumni took to the streets. Meanwhile, BJP MP Swapan Dasgupta tweeted that he had heard some people were being forced to join the protest, something those on the streets have denied.
