The Maharashtra government has granted film star and BJP MP Hema Malini multi-crore rupees worth 2,000 square metre prime land in an upmarket Mumbai suburb for a dance academy. What has got activists up in arms, as revealed by an RTI application, is that she's been allotted the land for a paltry price of Rs 70,000. The state government has claimed that everything has been done according to law, and that subsidised land is given for cultural activities. The opposition says that she's been given land at a dirt-cheap price as she is a BJP Member of Parliament.
