Lawyers Assault Journalists, Delhi Top Cop Says Don't Blame Us

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi defends his cops even as they stood as mute spectators when lawyers threatened and beat up journalists and JNU faculty at the court where JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar was produced. Speaking to NDTV, he said that the presence of cops actually "prevented a serious situation". On allegations against BJP legislator OP Sharma of chasing and beating up a student, he said the police will look into it.
