'China Has Turned Into Personality-Cult': Expert

China's Communist Party will hold its mega meeting this Sunday. When asked how such protests in China are possible at a time when security is heightened before the key meeting of the ruling party, Dr Tara Kartha says, "In any system, if the leader decides that he is going to go on forever, there is going to be a lot of unhappy people around." She says the politics in China has turned into a "personality cult". She also says COVID-19, economic woes and serious demoralisation of young people could be behind such discontent in the country.
