Rose Petals, Garland: Grand Welcome For Rape-Accused Bishop In Jalandhar

Franco Mulakkal, the senior Catholic priest accused of repeatedly raping a nun, was showered with rose petals and garlanded by his supporters as he reached Jalandhar on Wednesday. Mulakkal, who was escorted by personnel of the Punjab Police, was released from a jail in Kerala on Tuesday. Mulakkal, till a few weeks ago, was the bishop of the Jalandhar diocese. He was seen smiling as his followers threw rose petals, reported news agency Press Trust of India.
