"(Supporters of self-styled religious preacher Amritpal Singh) said they would conduct a peaceful protest. This planned peaceful protest led to police officials being brutally attacked, sharp-edged weapons were used, and six police officials were injured. But the police showed utmost restraint so that the sanctity of the Guru Granth Sahib could be protected," says Director General of Police, Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
