The Centre on Tuesday told parliament that there were no deaths due to oxygen shortage in India, based on the data that it collected from state governments. But for families of those who died at South Delhi's Batra Hospital due to oxygen shortage on May 1, the government's statements have worsened the wounds. NDTV correspondent Sukirti Dwivedi spoke to 39-years-old Gurpreet Singh, who lost his 64-year-old mother Kawaljeet Kaur. Gurpreet expressed shock at the government's statements and said that his mother, who had never been admitted to a hospital before, lost her life within two days only due to oxygen shortage.
