On Tuesday, NDTV had shown how students of Delhi government schools were struggling to pay the CBSE registration fees required for being allowed to appear for board exams; Rs. 1,800 for Class 10 and Rs. 3,100 for Class 12. We highlighted the story of a 16-year-old girl who lives in a room inside a public toilet and an 18-year-old girl who is being looked after by a single parent. Within 24 hours of the report being aired, the fees of not only the two girls but also of 30 students has been paid by donors who approached NDTV. Around Rs 70,000 has been donated so far and the help continues to pour in. Donors are from across India and also include NRIs from Mexico and France.
