Just minutes after she told her husband that she is off to inspect their son's new apartment in the same Noida high-rise they live in, 73-year-old Sheela Devi died in a midway lift collapse. She was found unconscious after more than an hour. The residents of the building say upkeep of lifts is a neglected issue and reiterate their demand for a lift law.
