Although the government had issued safety guidelines with a view to preventing a surge in COVID-19 cases, political parties in Karnataka, including the ruling BJP and the principal opposition Congress are showing scant regard for them. Top functionaries and party workers of the parties are violating these guidelines with impunity, while enforcing authorities, who do not miss an opportunity to crack down on the common man, turn a blind eye to these violations.
