Industry Body CII Suggests Direct Cash Transfer Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has suggested direct cash transfer of Rs 5,000 into the accounts of adults earning under Rs 5 lakh a year. The body has also demanded that senior citizens must get Rs 10,000 via cash transfer. We spoke to Jean Dreze, Professor at Ranchi University, on what can be done to mitigate the financial distress caused by the nationwide coronavirus shutdown.
