In Madhya Pradesh, 25 per cent MLAs face criminal charges

25 per cent of the 213 MLAs in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly are facing criminal charges, ranging from theft to murder, according to a report by the state unit of a civil society group, National Election Watch. The report is based on the affidavits filed by the candidates during the 2008 polls. Over 11 per cent of these 'tainted' MLAs have been accused of serious offenses.
